After three years of writing, developing, and preparing new music, Sareem Poems and Ess Be are back with Mind Over Matter. Released via Illect Recordings, Mind is the second full length project from the Lansing, Michigan-based MC and producer duo. Their first album on Illect, 2015's Beautiful Noise, was a highly motivational record based around positivity and perseverance. Mind Over Matter is definitely in the same vein as Noise, but it's clear that as they worked on the new project, Poems and Ess Be weren't afraid to dive deeper into who they've become as artists.

From start to finish, Mind Over Matter takes on some of the most pressing issues of our time. Employing his signature measured flow, Poems discusses political divisiveness, the dangers of succumbing to greed, loving yourself, and economic inequality in the United States. "So you in your heart of hearts really believe that the playing field is level?" he asks on the ninth track, "What's Wrong." Over the course of his twenty-year career, Sareem Poems has meticulously crafted a style of music informed by his deep respect, and love, for humanity. On Mind, Poems continues to build on that.

Over the last three years Ess Be has officially made the transition from being a part-time producer with a day job to pursuing music full time. Throughout Mind, Ess Be's skill as a producer is on full display. Ess Be could easily fall back on familiar boom bap tropes or trendy drum patterns. Instead, he incorporates a little bit of everything. Heavy bass lines and trance-like EDM moments on tracks such as "Dance For The Dead" and "Eyedentity" keep the record moving as Sareem Poems adapts to each new musical moment.

As artists, Sareem Poems and Ess Be have never shied away from using their platform to bring people together—even as those in power would pull them apart. Mind Over Matter, their second full-length album on Illect Recordings, celebrates the beauty of humanity while also questioning the systems of inequity that have kept certain people in power for centuries. It's always been important to practice self-care in the face of struggle and Mind Over Matter is a manifestation of that.

Confession: I am the most self conscious music producer ever. I produced my first beat when I was 15 years old and never looked back. But even though I have been making instrumentals virtually nonstop for two decades, these days, I have only really shared them with my students and officially released even less.

Fast forward to 2017. In the past year or so, I have made more beats than I have written songs for the first time since I was a student at Suitland High School. I decided to embark on a mission to produce my first ever official instrumental album, entitled, 'The Garden' due to be released in Spring 2018. But before there can be a garden, we need seeds to plant. Enters the 8 track EP, 'Seeds' featuring seven instrumentals and one remix. The project consist of several old beats I produced with a few new tracks and an insane remix I was challenged to do for Tonedeff.

They say the holiday season is the time for sharing and I couldn't dream of a better way to close out the year. So, consider this project my gift to you all.

Christmas has been whetting fans' appetites for the new album over the last few months, releasing the tracks "Ball," produced by Thelonious Martin and Aniko Thomas, and "Girlfriend." The 15-song album features guest spots from Cousin Stizz, G Perico, Domo Genesis and more.

Role Model was preceded by 2016's Lady Parts with Prefuse 73 and the solo EP, Baggy Eyes.

According to Christmas, there is a certain motivation behind the new release and its title. "Essentially what this album is capturing is me trying to teach the kids (which I use my sisters as the vessel for) how I maneuver through the craziness we see every day," he recently revealed about the new project. "I had been questioning for a long time whether I’m a good role model or not and came to the conclusion that I am a piece of shit… but who better to lead the kids through this piece of shit world than me? So I made an album talking about the way I see things and my life as of late while having my sisters watch me and pick up on these things themselves."

Berlin's boom bap specialist returns with an all-new album designed to shake up global soundwaves. Following up his experimental instrumental concept-album, "Society Collapse" and his "Abstractions" EP with rapper K.A.A.N. (Aftermath Entertainment), Klaus Layer's latest effort is his sixth album on Redef, but his first solo project to feature all vocals over his acclaimed productions.

Entitled Lost Track, Klaus assembled an international team of top notch MCs to grace his legendary sounds. Amazingly, the album features the Artifacts, Hex One, Simple One and most prominently Blu (Blu & Exile) on no less than four of the albums nine tracks. Musically it wouldn't be complete without scratches so long time collaborators Educut & Mr Nylson showed up to lace the producer previously known as Captain Crook with razor sharp cuts. Since his 2013 debut, he's built a strong reputation and loyal fanbase by doing one thing over and over: releasing great records. Lost Track is a pure rap album, and while it may be slightly less experimental than Klaus' recent output, it has a sound unlike anyone else in the genre and is deserving of any accolades headed its way. Rumor has it that KL has already completed another album ready to drop later his year. There's no doubt that Klaus is a true original with a passion for his craft that ensures that his supporters will always have something unique to explore. Conceptually, his latest record is a bit of a hybrid as it contains a mix of previously released loosies alongside new joints that are just now being unveiled to the delight his core following.

The album title refers to the rarity of this particular material and a nod to the bespoke graff burner ("Crook") which graces the album cover. Mastered by Klaus's good friend Figub Brazlevič, a successful German producer in his own right, Lost Track will sonically appeal to beat fiends yearning for the raw samples and smacking drums as well as pure rap fans who wanna hear more than mumbles. It's safe to say that the album doesn't fall short of any of his previous work so make it a point to add this to your collection before the end of the line. Bluestaeb is one of the key figures of a new generation of up and coming HipHop beatmakers, who have emancipated from genre thinking and instead merge old school aesthetics with a new school attitude and organic instrumentation.

In 2015, his critically acclaimed sophomore album "Rodalquilar"(via Jakarta Records), set a blueprint for this approach by
combining warm samples, futuristic synth melodies and tight drum
programming. The album is dedicated to the Andalusian town of the same name, a mythic place in the south of Spain, where Bluestaeb spent much of his childhood and where still continues to gather inspiration from.

Influenced by Madlib's "Shades Of Blue" and trained in African drum techniques such as Djembé and Darbuka, Bluestaeb had been crafting his own beats since his teenage years and gradually found his sound identity through experimenting with HipHop and Jazz – first to be heard by a broader music community in 2013, when he released his debut album "1991 Extraterrestrial" (Radio Juicy). Since then the prolific young artist has released numerous solo and collaboration projects ("B.L.U.E. Friday" in 2015 and „Sidekicks“ with S. Fidelity in 2016). In 2016, he produced collaborative album "LIT - Lost In Translation“ with rapper JuJu Rogers, a keen manifesto against racism, xenophobia and the rise of anti-heroes such as Donald Trump.

Today, Bluestaeb lives and works in Paris and Berlin and is set to
release his third solo album “Everything Is Always a Process”, a
smooth Neo Soul-induced epic featuring artists such as Noah Slee, Harleighblu and Melodiesinfonie, via Jakarta Records in 2018.
