South Florida hip-hop groups Miami Beat Wave, ¡MAYDAY! and ArtOfficial have come together with The DJBooth to bring listeners their first joint digital release, the Neighbors street album.

This all-star collaborative project, which carries both a figurative (musical) and literal (zip code) meaning, features 11 original tracks from the above-mentioned crews, including featured cut "WATTUP?!" as well as the project's reader-approved lead single and title track.

Guests Garcia, Katie DiCiccio and Skam2? make guest appearances throughout the set, which is produced by members of all three collectives. Brandon Toledo and DaVincci (for MBW) and Bernz (of ¡MAYDAY!) created the hard drums and samples, which were then mixed with Noms' (of ¡MAYDAY!) percussion work, and the bass and keys flavoring of Ralph and Danny Keys.

Первые серьезные плоды этого сотрудничества ожидаются уже этим летом, когда должен выйти альбом "Dark Comedy".

Open Mike Eagle из Чикаго, он имеет в своем послужном списке 3 сольных альбома, ряд коллабо, и зарекомендовал себя как исполнитель с абстрактным мышлением, став завсегдатаем альтернативных сайтов и блогов. Mello Music Group расширяет круг своих интересов в плане музыкальных стилей, возможно теперь Quelle Chris, который стал одним из самых ярких представителей лэйбла в прошлом году, не будет так сильно выделяться на фоне остальных артистов MMG.

Пожалуй, самое большое упущение прошлого года, очередной альбом группы из Сиэтла The Physics, который должен был стать синтезом цифрового и аналогового звучания и своеобразным ответом Физиков на развитие технологий и мировые тенденции, касающиеся в том числе и музыки. В записи 10 треков принимали только 2 из 3 участников привычного состава группы, а именно Thig (на обложке) и продюсер Justo, который стал далеко не единственным создателем музыки для "Digital Wildlife", так что можно сказать, что по большому счету это альбома Thig'а, его брат Monk Wordsmith и вовсе остался в стороне от проекта. Альбом бесплатный. Обратите внимание и на роскошное видео, которое снял Zia Mohajerjasbi для сингла "Am I Crazy".

This is a collection of songs dedicated to the working class and loosely inspired by NC’s failing economy. Supastition was inspired to write the EP after NC became the first state to eliminate federal unemployment benefits in 2013. A lot of people, including Supa, felt the effects of it. While he was searching for a job himself, Supastition documented those struggles first hand with the Honest Living EP. Croup is no stranger to Supastition music. They recorded their first official song (Adrenaline) on Supastition's The Deadline. Since then, they've been working together and crafting songs. Croup is one of the few producers who didn't change his sound just to get major placements. As a unit, Supa and Croup both refuse to compromise their sound and only care to appeal to those who dig that vintage sounding hip hop.

It’s been a decade now since that incident changed Verbal Kent’s life forever, and now The Windy City is back in the news with unprecedented gang violence these past few years - something Verbal decided to address in his own way. Far from a nihilist, Verbal finds meaning in the struggles he and his city live through.

А в этом году 11 треков альбома выпущены на собственном лэйбле Talib'а Javotti Media, который пришел на смену утратившему силу Blacksmith, релиз на CD и на виниле.

Gravitas, Talib Kweli's sixth solo album, began to take shape in May, during the weeks following the release of Kweli's fifth solo album, Prisoner of Conscious. Loaded with guests, Prisoner of Conscious was well received and reviewed, and gained Talib many new fans to add to his already large following. However, Kweli soon found himself wanting to record more personal material and really document his journey thru music. When singer Ryan Leslie, who created the platform that Kweli is using to sell Gravitas, approached him with the idea of selling direct to fan, songs that were just rough ideas began to fully form in Kweli's head.
"One of my favorite things about today's hip hop is the honesty," says Kweli. Today's most popular rappers aren't always politically correct or deep, but the best are unflinchingly honest. While my story may be documented, I have never truly told my story thru music. My true fans have heard bits and pieces thru the years, but Gravitas sums up my experience until now."
The new songs reflect a continued determination and drive in Talib Kweli, impressive because of the fact that Prisoner of Conscious was released less than six months ago. Considered one of the top tier lyricist of all time and name dropped in songs by everyone from Jay-Z to 2 Chainz, Talib Kweli has defied the odds and remained relevant while never compromising his art, quite a feat in today's music business. The respect he is given is evident when Raekwon from the Wu Tang Clan drops by to spit on Violations. Talib Kweli has also showcased new artists throughout his storied career, giving breaks to people like Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole long before they were embraced by the mainstream. This streak continues with Brooklyn's own UnderAchievers, who pop up on the Statik Selektah produced New Leaders. The OhNo produced Art Imitates Life features classic lyricism from Kweli, Rah Digga and Black Thought from the legendary Roots, and Austin's guitar prodigy Gary Clark Jr. shows up for Demonology. All of this leads up to Gravitas' final track, Colors of You, featuring Mike Posner and produced by the late, great J Dilla of Slum Village fame.

After More Heart Than Brains was released in 2009, Greetings From Tuskan (Joëlle Lê) and Buck 65 (Rich Terfry) directly started working on a follow up record. This turned out to be a high mountain to climb and it wasn't until September 2013 that everything starting to come together. A half-decade removed from the ethereal hopeless romanticism of 2009 Bike For Three! have returned with their sophomore LP on Fake Four, Inc.
The Bike For Three! Project can be seen as an exchange of letters between two souls separated by oceans and time. The soundtrack to expressions of longing and passion. An almost therapeutic exercise to explain and understand certain tragic and confusing events in their lives; for both artists this might be their most personal and intimate work to date.
The album begins with the sound of a solitary heart beating underscored by Joëlle’s eerie, soothing atmospherics. From there the urgency of “Full Moon” kicks in and Rich is at the podium, unraveling his innermost thoughts through tightly knit stanzas and abstracted fragments.
Joëlle's aural shapes and colours have found a focus that push Rich's words and performance to new places. Both artists feeding off each others darkest states and lingering demons. Joëlle imagined a mesmerizing foundation for Rich's poetry and associate thoughts. The result is the music of a shared lucid dream and a conversation held in several different languages.
The listener is left to connect the dots on cryptic tracks like “You Can Be Everything” and “The Muse Inside Me”, as Buck’s frantic internal dialogue refracts off of Joëlle’s arpeggiating synths, rich, multi-hued textures and subtle backing vocals.
So Much Forever retains its thematic continuity through Rich’s candid writing and Joëlle’s kaleidoscopic collages whilst allowing the protagonist to explore a wide range of deliveries. On “Conflation”, Buck is a beat poet lost in time, placing his anguish in a larger context and wrapping up the record with the thesis statement “My love will level this city.”
So Much Forever can be seen as the logical next step in their story, another page in their shared diary that sees Joëlle taking up more vocal duties and Rich exploring new corners of his imagination.
Oh yes, they still haven't met. More close than ever.
