Largely produced by Kev Brown with a nice block of production by Black Milk, and additional work by 14KT, Roddy Rod, and Kaimbr, Square One is Kenn Starr getting back to his foundation to begin anew. The laid back flow remains intact—complementary to the Kev Brown’s vintage soul-crate production—but the perspective is written with a wisdom earned through seeing opportunities that overpassed his doorstep. On “Cigarettes & Whiskey“ he addresses his history with passing fancy and a buried hatchet, “please pardon my view points / Starr Status wasn’t a classic but had a few joints,” and makes no qualms about his hiatus. Square One is the only album Kenn Starr could write in order to bid farewell to days past and move forward.

The newest Doomtree record is called All Hands, due January 27th 2015. The title nods to the nautical rally cry, "All hands on deck," and the album stands as the most collaborative and cohesive project the crew has yet produced. The production from Cecil Otter, Lazerbeak, Paper Tiger, and P.O.S twists through 13 booming tracks, building the raw and epic soundscapes that the group has become well known for, while adding more of-the-moment musical elements and techniques for a genre-spanning effect. This is the sound of old friends fine-tuning their craft, both together and individually, for over a decade, and it shows. Lyrically, All Hands sounds hungry as all hell. The three-year gap between Doomtree albums has given each of the five emcees substantial time to grow as solo artists, and the group's return finds everyone tour-tested with plenty to prove. Sims, P.O.S, Mike Mictlan, Dessa, and Cecil Otter drive home razor-sharp cadences, hard-hitting punchlines, and monstrous choruses, passing the spotlight back and forth until the house lights come up.
To write All Hands, crew members sequestered themselves in a cabin with no cell reception to distract from the task at hand and no neighbors to be bothered by the music playing through the night. The process informed the product: the record creates and operates within its own sphere—a particular mix of menace, humor, beauty, and adrenaline. Though the Minneapolis sound is present on All Hands, the record is as much a product of seven friends, relying only on each other, working in international waters.
Both the catchiest and densest album in the group's catalog, All Hands adeptly walks a tightrope of immediately memorable hooks and in-depth lyricism that rewards repeated listens. The result is equally worthy of up-to-11 trunk-rattling drives as it is late-night headphone sessions.

Sadat X has spent the last two years preparing an album a whole generation of Hip-Hop fans have been waiting for. "Never Left", is a project that celebrates Sadat X' illustrious 25 year career and serves as a testament to New York City's continued ability to fit in today's musical landscape.
Sadat conceptualized the project with Fokis after the two had worked together on several projects under Fokis' Loyalty Digital Corp imprint. The idea was simple, "a lot of people have the perception that at some point you're supposed to just turn it off like a switch," explains the Brand Nubian co-founder."I still love Hip-Hop every day, I'm still Hip-Hop every day. It's my lifestyle, it's what I grew up on. So I just tried to transcribe that through music and let people in my generation know that it's okay to still love rap. You don't have to be trapped by what's played on the radio or the mainstream. There's something out there for you.”
The result is a cohesive collection of songs, that avoids the tendency many older artists have to overly criticize or attempt to emulate what the "kids" are doing. Instead, "Never Left" is simply a well-crafted Adult Contemporary Hip-Hop album, perhaps the first of it's kind to fit perfectly into today's landscape without losing site of it's audience. This is not an attempt by Sadat X to turn Millennials into fans, although their ears are more than welcome and what they will find will certainly resonate. This is "grown folks" music.
The project is also very much a New York City album, something Sadat makes clear on the very first track, "We In New York." Listeners are offered a sonic ride that feels familiar without being dated. "Never Left" captures the feeling of New York's Golden Era, carried forward 25 years by a man who has lived the culture to the fullest. Along the way, Sadat stays in pocket with notable features by contemporaries like Black Rob, Craig G, King T, Dres, Chi Ali, who lends his vocals to the reggae inspired "Put It On Me," and Cormega, who appears on the project's first official single, "On Fire." Sadat also recruits one of the leaders of New York's next generation of true MCs, Skyzoo on the project, as well as newcomer Tony Mays, who won the opportunity to contribute to this project through an online contest presented by Loyalty Digital Corp.
Overall, "Never Left" promises to surprise even the most loyal of fans, a fact which Fokis credits to Sadat's commitment to deliver the best possible album. "Even though he’s been doing this for 20 plus years, he’s always willing and open to being guided," Fokis says. "It’s like working with a veteran with a new artist’s mentality. And I think his commitment to getting it right definitely shows in the quality of the music."

Phony Ppl, the funky, soulful sextet from Brooklyn, New York, experienced this dilemma while recording their new album, so they ventured out in hopes of connecting musically, socially and brotherly on a higher level. The end result, Yesterday's Tomorrow, is mission accomplished.

According the band, the self-produced, 15-track album, is about "living, dealing with problems, learning self-confidence, and [practicing] the 'best kind of love,' self love." Random или Mega Ran можно назвать главным геймером хип-хопа, во всяком случае у него хуже чем у остальных получается отделять своё музыкальное творчество от увлечения видеоиграми, которым оно в последние годы практически всецело и посвящено. Разделял с ветераном из Филадельфии (сейчас он живёт и работает в Финиксе) его интересы продюсер K-Murdock, но он в прошлом году отдыхал, поэтому Random был вынужден сотрудничать с дуэтом из Детройта The Regiment, который в 2014-м кроме этого выпустил ещё и LP "Live From Coney Island" на всё том же HiPNOTT Records.

Description:

The FakeHunters are a group made up of 4 musicians / Beatmakers / Crate Diggers / Turntablists created by NoLive (from Bordeaux) and Dadz (from Reims) in 2003. After several years of beatmaking, most notable for creating many flash sound loopers for Skratch nerds, the crew grows with the arrival of a talented Dj and beatmaker : K'n'K aka Kapp'n'Kutt (from Albertville), and later a gifted musician : Oner (from Reims)

The FakeHunters make unique music. The key to their original sound lies through :
· blending their individual musical muses and influences
· including rare mixed sounds from the 60’s-70’s
· using multiple instruments, most importantly vintage keyboards, bass, turntables and sax which form the main sound structure.

The group delivers a unique modern musical identity, being an eclectic mix of 90’s Hip Hop, Jazz Hop and Nu Soul.
Regularly, NoLive, Dadz, K'n'K and Oner are joined up with gifted guests, musicians and MC's from all around the globe, sharing their love for music and especially Hip Hop.
