Музыка Danny Lover временами напоминает зажёванную кассету, а сам он больше похож на тихоню-маньяка, нежели на рэппера. Канадец с Blah Records всё время использует мрачные, химические биты 19.thou$and (продюсера, которого, к сожалению, уже нет в живых), а сам звучит как Louie Knuxx. Что с этим канадцем не всё ладно можно определить хотя бы по тому, что в круг его ближайших интересов входит баскетбол, имена собственные, связанные с НБА, всплывают в текстах с завидной регулярностью.

Официальный саундтрек к фильму, существующему, очевидно, только в воображении Danny Lover, - хороший мост между североамериканским абстрактом и мрачным, ностальгическим андеграундом из Британии, марочным продуктом Blah Records. Это четвёртый проект рэппера с лондонским лэйблом, начиная с 2015 года.

Хип-хоп альбом с живым инструменталом - это всегда интригующе, и несмотря на то, что мой второй блог WE WANT MORE!!!!, посвящённый этой теме, пока стоит на паузе, такие вещи не пропускаем. 

Рэппер из Чикаго Neak начал свой поход в 2010 году, тогда вышел его микстейп "Neak Rock", посвящённый понятно кому. После этого исполнитель, хорошо знакомый с такими талантливыми парнями из Чикаго, как Rashid Hadee и Slot-A, не сидел без дела, но его релизы не попадали в блоги и на bandcamp большим спросом не пользовались.

Вспоминаем о нём только сейчас, когда Neak собрал выпущенные ранее треки на новом проекте, оживив их при помощи лайв-бэнда во главе с Charlie Coffeen из группы Sidewalk Chalk. "Vibrations" - неизданный трек, его спродюсировал Slot-A.

Свой второй альбом с мэйджором Action Bronson долго не мог выпустить из-за того, что Atlantic не мог уладить вопрос с правами на сэмплы. Просроченный более, чем  на три месяца релиз в конечном итоге состоялся и завершил серию "Blue Chips", которую рэппер начал с двух микстейпов 2012 и 2013 гг.

After cooking up a bevy of meals for his hit show on Viceland "Fuck That's Delicious," Action Bronson is ready to return to the forefront of hip-hop. Nearly two years removed from the release of his last album Mr. Wonderful, the Queens native decides to return to the scene today & drop off his long awaited new project Blue Chips 7000 after weeks & even years of anticipation.

If you remember back in April, Action was so upset about the delayed project that he called out his label in frustration on Twitter, “Put my motherfuckin album out” he said. “Stay independent. For Fucks sake” he then added. Thankfully, cooler heads eventually prevailed & Action took the blame for his outburst & pushback, saying it was his fault for choosing such hard records to get samples cleared.

Laced with 13 records in total, the follow up to 2015’s Mr. Wonderful features guest appearances from Rick Ross, Big Body Bes, Meyhem Lauren, and Jah Tiger. Meanwhile, production is handled by Action’s go-to producers Party Supplies, Alchemist, Knowlxdge & Harry Fraud.

Blue Chips 7000 serves as the third & final installment in Action’s mixtape series, following up the original Blue Chips tape in 2012 & Blue Chips 2 in 2013.

Четвёртый сольный альбом рэппера из Сиэтла, давно являющегося частью команды Rhymesayers. Grieves отсутствовал 3 года, это его первый альбом после "Winter & the Wolves" (2014), и снова он тесно сотрудничает лишь с одним продюсером, которым на этот раз стал швед Chords. Второй лонгплей Bisk и его первый серьёзный проект не с Blah Records, а с немецким Radio Juicy. Болезненно экспериментальный хип-хоп из недр калифорнийского абстракта, где уже зародилось немало нечисти вроде Death Grips или clipping. Кстати, Daveed Diggs из clipping. имеет непосредственное отношение к проекту True Neutral Crew, но всё же остался за скобками на дебютном альбоме группы. В итоге её составляют уже знакомый нам Signor Benedick The Moor, Margot Padilla и Brian Miller aka Brian Kinsman, ударник, клавишник и продюсер прежде с хип-хопом вообще не связанный, а связанный в основном с шумными роками и электрониками.

True Neutral Crew существует примерно с 2013 года, "Soft Rules" стал в том числе и итогом предыдущих лет творческих поисков, в CD-версию альбома вошли и два мини-микстейпа, выпущенных группой ранее, а также пару неизданных треков. Всё это идёт плюсом к основной части студийного материала в 9 треков. В веб-версии - 11 песен (без микстейпов).

Ветеран LA андеграунда Alex Ocana aka 2Mex стоял у истоков клана The Visionaries, участвовал во многих других проектах, в числе которых Of Mexican Descent, The Mind Clouders и Look Daggers. Сольную карьеру 2Mex развивает с 2000 года, до 2010-го включительно было выпущено 5 альбомов, а в 2013-м вышел коллабо-релиз с рэппером Maiselph. С тез пор ветеран практически не напоминал о себе.

В 2016 году страдающий сахарным диабетом 2Mex перенёс ампутацию ноги. Этому посвящено видео "Lospital" и немалая часть одноимённого альбома, который прервал продолжительную паузу в карьере рэппера.

Opportunity. Something that drives and forces people out of their comfort zones into unfamiliar territories. Opportunity is what sent two MCs from their familiar stomping grounds of Ohio to Atlanta in search of hip-hop success. Opportunity is what brought Jermiside and L-Marr together.

Jermiside began carving out a niche for himself in 2003 with self-produced and self released projects that received favorable reviews both locally, nationally and also sparked the interest of various overseas entities. As a part of the Lessondary Crew, which consists of Che Grand, Tanya Morgan, Elucid, Spec Boogie, A Brother Named George and others, Jermiside has made a name for himself with his stellar guest appearances. He has appeared on tracks alongside artists such as Tanya Morgan, Ill Poetic, Soulstice, Theory Hazit, Reef the Lost Cause and a number of other underground artists.

L-Marr hails from Dayton, Ohio where he began his career performing at his alma mater, Wittenberg University and various colleges while still pursuing his degree in Political Science and Sociology. Known for his exhilarating live performances, he has shared the stage with such national acts as; BluePrint, 3-6 Mafia, State Radio, and R&B singer Monica, among others. With a penchant for catchy hooks and prolific songwriting, he has also worked creatively with artists like; Da Alliance, Ill Poetic, Spree Wilson, and Smalleyez.

Moving in mutual circles, it was only natural that these two hard-working Ohio MCs would meet in Atlanta and forge a bond. After jointly appearing on various songs, they began working on music that would eventually become the "God Bless the Child" EP. This project blends their unique brand of lyricism with dope beats and memorable hooks to create a truly powerful album. Las Vegas, Nevada rapper Dizzy Wright began rapping at just 8 years old in the group "DaFuture" with his brother and very close friend, his mother wrote his raps at the time. Один из первых релизов самородка из Лондона, с прошлого года выдающего на Blah Records чистейший уличный стафф в мрачном минималистичном стиле без лишних прикрас. Morriarchi - продюсер мини-альбома, и это тоже имя из числа недавних открытий, так что сейчас этот релиз интригует куда больше, чем в начале 2016-го.

Blah Records continue their relentless spree of hard-hitting, unique hip-hop releases with this free download project from upcoming London rapper Bisk. ‘Free Morphine’ is an EP produced entirely by respected beatsmith Morriarchi, and it features appearances from Sheffield MC and frequent Blah collaborator Sniff, as well as UK veteran Lee Scott.

The deep, gloomy sounds of ‘Samuraifly’ are a perfect reminder to Bisk’s style. His stream of consciousness lyricism is delivered in a gritty, precise manner, and his content is equally aggressive and witty. Bisk reminds me somewhat of Cracker Jon, in that he can move between topics so effortlessly; he’ll drop some unapologetically vulgar bar, or spit a braggadocios line, and follow it up with some intelligent analysis or self-deprecating observation in the same scheme. The slow-paced ‘Purplevalley’ is a smoked out, intoxicating cut which features Sheffield based MC Sniff, and the Bad-Taste Records representative joins Bisk on a crisp beat with some really dope change-ups.

‘Sonatine’, which features subtle backing vocals from Lee Scott, is a highlight; Bisk’s unorthodox, fluid flow is a joy to listen too, and Morriarchi’s mellow film-score esque instrumental provides a smooth, silky backing which gels with the calm vocal perfectly. ‘Free Morphine’ closes out with ‘Endcredits’, and this ending track is another slow moving, gloomy affair; Bisk’s hypnotic, tight flow and charismatic delivery sound dope over Morriarchi’s haunting production, and the chemistry evident across this seven track EP makes it a cohesive and thoroughly entertaining project.

To think that this EP is just acting as an ‘interlude’ between ‘Raw Shit’, which dropped earlier this year, and whatever Bisk and Blah Records have stashed to release next, is a scary prospect. Just how much dope music can the young artist have stocked up? 2016 is sure to be a big year for Bisk, and the independent powerhouse that is Blah is going from strength to strength, and they were never weak to begin with.
