Shaheed & DJ Supreme - Knowledge, Rhythm And Understanding (2013)

Communicating Vessels' recording artists Shaheed and DJ Supreme are one of hip hops' most consistent groups. They hail from Birmingham, Alabama, but you won't find them categorized among the typical dirty south artists. They are, in fact, seen as practitioners of traditional boom-bap hip hop.
The duo, who have worked together since 2000, began this collaboration in 2007 and have an impressive track record to authenticate their expertise. They've released two critically acclaimed LPs (Health Wealth & Knowledge of Self and Scholar Warrior (The Remix Album)). They've shared stages with Raekwon, Atmoshpere, Brother Ali, DJ Shiftee, The Bodega Brovas, and Stalley, as well as, labelmates The Green Seed. And their albums feature guest appearances from artists such as Akil the MC (of Jurassic 5), Amir Sulaiman, and W. Ellington Felton.
With 2013 comes the release of their much anticipated third LP, Knowledge, Rhythm, and Understanding. This is their debut label release and Communicating Vessels is certain Shaheed's skillful lyrical agility and DJSupreme's soulful production will leave listeners perfectly inspired.
In tracks like, "Right Now", listeners become enlightened by the groups' lifestyle and current plans to leave a lasting impression. They consider themselves brothers in Humanity and in the culture of hip hop. In, "Champions Of Truth", featuring Akil the MC, it's understood that to Shaheed, DJ Supreme, and many in their cohort, if its' not Knowledge, Rhythm, and Understanding, it might not be as important as perceived.

No word has been said to confirm their whereabouts, but eye witnessed accounts of the short man and height man (with no hype man) sharking, frequenting brothels and boisterously blaring their art from random locations have been documented. Some say they are adorned in black cloaks as others have sworn they recognized the two donning the clothes of civilians. Regardless, The Doppelgangaz prefer anonymity alongside the creation of raw substance.

The Betty Ford Boys are the first hip-hop producer super group out of Germany, consisting of Suff Daddy, Dexter and Brenk Sinatra.
We call them the rat pack of our beat scene. With all diversity in sound, the three producers are unified in their love for dope beats and high-proof drinks, both catered and consumed with style and expertise.
Suff Daddy, the globetrotting gin connoisseur and minimoog player with domiciles in Berlin, Düsseldorf and Sydney. He has released three solo albums and has worked with artists like Miles Bonny, Fleur Earth, Ta-ku and Elzhi. After a one year stint in Sydney, he returned to Berlin this spring.
Brenk Sinatra, the Wien-Kaisermühlen homeboy, Westcoast rap fanatic and producer of the forthcoming MC Eiht album. Last year Brenk released the critically acclaimed S3 album together with US singer Miles Bonny and has laced beats for an armada of MCs from both sides of the Atlantic.
And last but not least Dexter, the Stuttgart based trip maker and platinum producer with a day job as a pediatrician. This June Dexter released his second solo-album “The Trip” a homage to the psychedelic rock era and one of the most innovative and genre bending hip-hop albums of 2013.
All three first met at the Hi-Hat Club, the producer series that we started a couple of years ago with the goal to push and celebrate the art of beat making. With their respective volumes “Suff Draft” (Suff Daddy), “The Jazz Files” (Dexter) and “Chop Shop” (Brenk Sinatra) each of the guys put the instrumental hip-hop thing on a new and different level. None of their beats need a MC to be complete, they are full songs in their own right.
The official birth date of the Betty Ford Boys was the 2012 Beat BBQ in Cologne where Dexter, Suff and Brenk performed together for the first time. Right after the now legendary gig, that was ended by police forces Suff Daddy left for Sydney so that most the recordings for the Betty Ford Boys debut album took place in the cloud. Right after his return to Berlin, the Boys jumped on the bus and played their first club tour which finished with a gig at the Splash Festival.
On August 30th, the Betty Ford Boys release their first album “Leaders Of The Brew School” on Melting Pot Music. The record combines the best of three worlds and has a surprisingly chilled Westcoast vibe. It’s perfect summer music, it’s edgy and relaxed at the same time and keeps you thirsty for more ....

Thundercat - Apocalypse (2013)

Stephen Bruner более известный под именем Thundercat долго время играл на бас-гитаре для других исполнителей при чём самых разных жанров, а с 2011 года занялся сольным творчеством. Forever a wildcat and wild card, Los Angeles' bassist/songwriter/vocalist Stephen Bruner, aka Thundercat, is impossible to tame artistically. A true master of his craft, he can be found playing bass with Flying Lotus, Erykah Badu and Suicidal Tendencies, in the same breath as performing live with the likes of Stanley Clarke, Snoop Dogg or the Red Hot Chili Peppers. His 2011 solo debut (The Golden Age of Apocalypse, co-produced by Flying Lotus) created an equally genre-blurring enigma of indie rock and jazz, with a touch of electronica.
On his second album, Apocalypse, Thundercat pairs up with executive producer Flying Lotus to pull the veil back and reveal the simple truths of the cycle of life, for all its beauty and destruction. An album about loss and rebuilding, trying to gain something back, and capturing that moment of clarity where one finally finds feet back on the ground again. Bringing a fusion of pop, soul, electronica, prog rock and funk into an unexplored dimension, the album slowly descends and tunnels to the core of what it takes to grasp peace, at a time that it seems most far.
From the deep, rumbling entrance of 'Tenfold,' each of the 12 tracks coalesce with Thundercat's signature bass, his riffs and basslines gliding sky high to meet Fly Lo's astral touch. Bruner's vocals and harmonies also soar with open honesty, rising above heartbreak with uplifting odes to love and companionship ('Tron Song') and wise mantras to live by ('Special Stage'). Elaquent - Believing (2013)

A lot of his lacings are hip-hop and soul oriented, but you should know by now that any claimed influence these days can be misleading. JJ DOOM (Jneiro Jarel + M.F. DOOM) - Key To The Kuffs (Butter Edition) (2012/2013)

Два человека, объявивших бойкот шаблонам и стандартам, объединились в войне против нормальности. Два продюсера и два эмси, больше 10 альтер эго на двоих, представители славного Нью-Йорка Jneiro Jarel и MF DOOM делают это вместе в 2012-м. Проект JJ DOOM пригрел лондонский лэйбл Lex Records, эта же студия стала домом для другого коллабо с участием человека в маске Danger Doom, ранее JJ и DOOM выпускались на Lex Records и сольно (последний, кстати, сам родом из Лондона). Jneiro Jarel взял на себя весь продакшен альбома "Key To The Kuffs", ну а для MF DOOM осталось только одно, то что он делает лучше всего. Релиз 21 августа.

Расширенная версия альбома "Butter Edition" вышла 20 августа 2013 года и включает в себя помимо самого альбома бонусы и ремиксы на отдельном диске. Обратите внимание, что тут полная версия "Butter Edition", в iTunes версии не хватает одного трека.

Lex Records presents 'KEY TO THE KUFFS', the debut collaborative album from MF DOOM and Jneiro Jarel (aka Shape of Broad Minds/ Dr. Who Dat?) under the moniker JJ DOOM.
JJ produced all the tracks, DOOM provided the bulk of the vocals and compiled the cut and paste skits.
The album will appeal to fans of classic DOOM material. JJ's tough, far out hip hop production will appeal to fans of J Dilla, Flying Lotus and El-P. "KEY TO THE KUFFS' features guest appearances from Beth Gibbons (Portishead), Damon Albarn (Gorillaz) and Khujo (Goodie Mob). Tracks from the album have already been remixed by Thom Yorke & Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead) and Dave Sitek. Album artwork is by graffiti artist Steve Powers aka ESPO.
The album follows DOOM's 2009 solo album 'BORN LIKE THIS' (Lex). JJ's recent production work includes three tracks on Damon Albarn's DRC Music album 'Kinshasa One Two' (Warp). JJ previously remixed DOOM twice on DOOM's 'GAZILLION EAR EP' (Lex) and they recorded together on JJ's Shape of Broad Minds album 'CRAFT OF THE LOST ART' (Lex).

Extended anniversary 2CD deluxe edition includes the original Key To The Kuffs CD in specialty packaging. CDX version is limited to 2,000 units in the US. Butter Edition details: this version taps new friends, collaborators and remixers. Most notably - Beck, Badbadnotgood, Del and Clams Casino, each adding their sound to the depth of the Deluxe Butter Edition.

Everlast - The Life Acoustic (2013)

Grammy-winner Everlast has announced an August 27th release date for his new album, "The Life Acoustic", via his own label Martyr Inc. Records, in partnership with INgrooves. Everlast's latest project, "The Life Acoustic", is a sort of retrospective on the singer/songwriter's career, with a mixture of classic Everlast and House of Pain material all stripped down to their acoustic essence.
"I wanted to dig up some of the songs that I felt were gems, yet they didn't get enough of a look the first time; and maybe in this light, they'll shine," says Everlast. "I picked my favorite songs, and recorded them straight-up acoustic, maybe a little keyboard and that's it. There's part of me that thinks maybe this is what I'm supposed to be doing... I've done a couple of European tours acoustically now, and this just feels like the right time to put out an acoustic album."
The Valley Stream born rapper emerged as a member of Ice-T's Rhyme Syndicate for his 1990 solo album, "Forever Everlasting", then formed the pioneering rap group House of Pain with friends DJ Lethal and Danny Boy. Signed to legendary dance and hip-hop label Tommy Boy Records, the group went multi-platinum with their self-titled 1992 debut which produced the legendary rap classic "Jump Around."
Everlast is a genre-bending veteran that has sold millions of records as both a solo artist and a member of two groups (House of Pain and La Coka Nostra.) He's won a Grammy and been nominated for two more. He also received an Emmy nomination for his work on the theme song for TNT's "Saving Grace". He's successfully reinvented himself as an artist, started his own label, amassed an impressive art collection, and continues to evolve as a prominent singer / songwriter.

Sun Ra once spoke a future where the mere thought of a place would take somebody there. In the past future of today, Ras G explores space and time through his ancient/futuristic music. Dusty, ethereal and bugged out, the Crate Creator's beats bring the past to the future. Back On The Planet, G's first Brainfeeder release in years, finds the blunted master of the beat guiding his Afrikan Space Program further out than ever.

Since his arrival on the planet, Ras called Los Angeles his base. Growing in south central, G was tapping into his innate knowledge while having the earthly experience of living in the "ghetto." After amassing a sizable discography of 7"'s, EP's and digital releases on a host of platforms, Ras G & The Alkebulan Space Program are Back On The Planet for their most complete demonstration to date. The countless nights at SpaceBase behind the MPC and SP-303 have seen G come fully into his own. On this project past experiments in chest-rattling bass, terse loops and bugged-out field noise come full circle. Ancient Afrikan poly-drum rhythms meet outer-synth splashes of white noise and intuitive experimentation meld with deep sub-harmonics for an otherworldly experience. "Asteroid Storm" captures the pulsating energy of The ASP's live demonstrations while "Natural Melanin Being" finds G's Uncle Ra sharing a few words of wisdom that go very well with the therapeutic tones of the meditative "All Is Well." "Back On The Planet" is The ASP at it's most confident, shedding all barriers for an open and honest manifestation. Restoring Poetry in Music - Kingdom of Fireflies (2012)

Among the more compelling music releases of 2012, 'Kingdom of Fireflies' presents a fresh and intriguing collection of songs crafted by one of the best experimental hip hop acts in the United States. Having won over myriad fans both in the US and abroad, Restoring Poetry in Music is proud to release their first full length album since 2007's 'Pyramids in Moscow' and 2004's 'Dream Awake'.
Restoring Poetry in Music (RPM) has been creating and performing genre-defying music since they first formed in the Washington, DC area in 2002; 'Kingdom of Fireflies' marks the group's debut album on the independent Tripwire Music label. Performers on 'Kingdom of Fireflies' include Raw Poetic (aka Jason Moore) as MC, Patrick Fritz on guitars, samplers and backing vocals, Aaron Gause (of Uzi Octapus fame) on keyboards and samplers, Tony Acampora (of Middle Distance Runner and Greenland) on bass guitar, and the legendary Jon Laine (who has performed with Aretha Franklin, Erykah Badu, Angie Stone, Common, Meshell Ndegeocello, and Charlie Byrd, to name a few) on drums. 'Kingdom of Fireflies' was recorded and produced by Patrick Fritz, Aaron Gause, Jason Moore and Ryan Sayward Whittier, mixed by Aaron Gause and Ryan Sayward Whittier, and mastered by Ryan Sayward Whittie

Tech N9ne - Something Else (Deluxe Edition) (2013)

Огромная поддержка со стороны продюсеров и гостей, среди которых есть и неожиданные персонажи, отражает статус исполнителя, по моему мнению всё же переоцененного.

Tech N9ne has set July 30 as the release date for his blockbuster Something Else album. The high-powered collection is broken up into "Fire," "Water" and "Earth" sections and features legendary guests from different genres and different eras, including music icons The Doors, rap superstars Kendrick Lamar and Wiz Khalifa, rock maverick Serj Tankian and singer-rapper Cee Lo, among others.
Tech N9ne collaborated with the remaining members of The Doors on "Strange 2013," a reworking of The Doors' "Strange Days" that was one of the last recordings The Doors' founding member, Ray Manzarek, made before he passed away in May. In a June 24 RollingStone.com feature, Tech N9ne says that The Doors' music saved his life and that The Doors' songs "People Are Strange" and "Strange Days" are the reasons why he named his record company Strange Music. "If I didn't listen to their music and their fusion of sounds, I probably would've never called [my label] Strange Music," Tech said to Rolling Stone. "I have Jim Morrison to thank for that."
The rest of Something Else is equally remarkable. "That's My Kid" featuring Cee Lo, Big K.R.I.T. and Kutt Calhoun has Tech N9ne explaining how he gave up his life in the streets in order to be a better father. Elsewhere, Tech N9ne teams with Kendrick Lamar, !MAYDAYЎ and Kendall Morgan for "Fragile." On this spirited selection, Tech N9ne delivers a dazzling, tongue-twisting rap blasting all of his critics, while Kendrick Lamar details how he pours his heart and soul into his lyrics.
