Пусть и очень скромная, но всё же с приветом из глубоких 90-х коллекция неизданных записей группы Mood, первый альбом которой вышел в 1997 году, став в итоге едва ли не классикой. Речь о релизе "Doom", на нём свои ранние продакшены продемонстрировал Hi-Tek, который тогда тесно сотрудничал с трио из Цинциннати, поэтому и на этом старом новом EP есть несколько его битов наряду с работами тогдашнего штатного инструменталиста Jahson. Сейчас же трио Mood превратилось в дуэт эмси Main-Flow и Donte. Бельгийский виниловый релиз.

After a couple of years without a new solo release & making moves with his Betty Ford Boys Brenk & Dexter, it was time for Suff Daddy to lay another egg in the form of a new album entitled "Bird Songs."

Deeply rooted in the Suff Daddy signature sound, it is also proof of an evolutionary process. A little less sample chops, a little more synth, a little less straight hip hop, a little more melody. This doesn't mean that you won't be able to recognize the bird by its call anymore, it's just a slight change in tonality.

After extending his stomping grounds to neighboring European countries by frequently playing international shows, including a London Boiler Room, he also opened for the mighty Anderson.Paak during his German shows in early 2016. Suff Daddy also remixed Lion Babe's "Wonder Woman" for Gilles Peterson Worldwide. He'll also be featured on the next "Spring in Jakarta" compilation.

The album features some of the fellow birds Suff Daddy is known to fly with. Betty Ford Boy's Dexter adds drums and baselines, and Mayer Hawthorne delivers some vocals.

The ‘rap crew’ is a classic hip-hop trope that doesn’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon. As such the Lessondary is a collective that has been putting in work for a while now and for their debut Ahead of Schedule it’s beyond time that you finally got to know them.

The squad consists of Von Pea and Donwill (aka Tanya Morgan), Ilyas Nashid, Rob Cave (fka Spec Boogie), Che Grand, Jermiside, Elucid, Aeon and Brickbeats. Recording in various configurations over the years, the Lessondary has amassed a discography large enough to be it’s own section of a Mom & Pop record shop. Each member boasts a lengthy list of accomplishments as well but in their greatest collective effort to date they’ve finally assembled in service of themselves to produce Ahead of Schedule, a record that has been years in the making.

With a sonic backdrop provided by Brickbeats, Aeon, Jermiside and Von Pea Ahead of Schedule is a lyrical whirlwind that isn’t short on cohesive topics or catchy hooks. Clocking in at 10 tracks (11 on the CD version), the cumulative effort effectively displays their dynamic as a self-contained unit with the ability to create a complete product from start to finish. The Lessondary's Ahead of Schedule is set for a digital and physical release June 24, 2016 on HiPNOTT Records.

Few things are more ugly or heroic than telling the truth. Life is often bleak, brutal, and over all too swiftly. Leaders are corrupt. Job prospects are limited. As Michigan’s anti-Surgeon General, Red Pill quips: “We may not be the heroes this world needs, we're definitely not the heroes this world wants, but at least we're here.” His partners in Ugly Heroes are Chicago MC Verbal Kent, and Detroit producer Apollo Brown. Their sophomore Mello Music Group release, Everything In Between, offers diamonds of wisdom amidst the existential dumpster fire.

It’s been said that if you go down deep enough, past the personal, you eventually reach the universal. Ugly Heroes embody that axiom, unraveling their own stories, self-doubts, and bouts with depression to arrive at something as profound as it is vulnerable. Apollo Brown warps soul music and bayonet-hard drums, creating a singular form of soul-coughing dirty-sky symphonies. Levitating boom-bap for the 21st Century.

“Have you ever figured what you’d be like in a few years…why don’t you look ahead” A cinematic voice opens up “Today, Right Now,” with these words, doubling as a manifesto for things to come. Just as quickly, a voice retorts, “ah, don’t preach at me…as if you can tell what you’ll be like in a few years.”

The back-and-forth distills the questions at the core of the record: What will my future look like? How can I repair myself? What gives my life meaning? What do we do in a world where the right answers are frequently hidden and the wrong answers are all too obvious?

Red Pill, Verbal Kent, and Apollo Brown refuse to offer simple solutions, but instead created a life-affirming record with a dark undercurrent. Red Pill calls us “rational cattle” one moment, while Verbal half-jokingly insists on the importance of “grabbing the bull by its arms” in the next. They’re artists and brothers and fathers grappling with the impossible: how to extend the good moments indefinitely, how to eradicate the bad ones to protect themselves and the ones they love.

They might harbor the suspicion that the past, present, and future might all be the same, but they understand that acts of heroism are often found in minor gestures. In a frivolous world, Ugly Heroes prove that talent will always reign supreme and honesty can never become obsolete.

Yogisoul - норвежский продюсер из группы Mutual Intentions, куда также входят Ivan Ave и Fredfades. Description:

Yogisoul, is one of three producers in the Mutual Intentions crew (Ivan Ave, Fredfades, Charlotte Dos Santos, S.RAW & others). He is originally from Moss, a small town an hour outside Oslo, Norway. He was introduced to all kinds of records at an early age. Yogi's spent years developing a unique sound and has been making songs for rappers and singers for a long time. Many listeners were introduced to his warm and soulful beats on the first Mutual Intentions cassette tape. Vinyl samples, dusty rhodes, thick-layered basslines and un-quantized crispy drums are essential to Yogi's sound.

He was educated as an audio engineer at the University of Wolverhampton, hence he emphasises the quality of the sound of his production. Bridging the gap between the old and the new, he's SP1200, analog synths and the Maschine combo he uses results in beats with a warm and precise character. While remaining in the hip hop genre, his production can also relate to soul singers and jazz musicians, which is demonstrated on his conceptual debut album "By Nights".

"Magnesium Opium" записанный в 2002-2003 годах и выпущенный лишь спустя 13 лет альбом дуэта Nowfol представителей Ванкувера Moka Only и Ishkan. Moka Only, очевидно, вспомнил про "Magnesium Opium" в рамках своей миссии "12 релизов за год", а на странице альбома рассказал душещипательную историю создания и заморозки этого проекта, включающую вещий сон некоего фаната и поломку оборудования. Для Ishkan это хороший шанс напомнить о себе, ветеран канадского хип-хопа из 90-х выпустил 5 сольных альбомов, поучаствовал в нескольких коллективах помимо Nowfolk (City Planners, Cryptik Souls Crew, Murge/Just/Ish&Ash, The Current), но в последние годы был мало заметен. Первый альбом Nowfolk "Style Gangstas" вышел в 1999 году, следующий "The Moon" - в 2002-м, с тех пор деятельность группы была заморожена, в основном из-за занятости Moka и Ishkan в других проектах.

Since hip hop's golden era, a cycle repeats every few years when a new rapper emerges with a presence and skill so undeniable, the artform and its participants adapt to it's latest contributor. Titans like Rakim, Nas, Snoop, Tupac, Biggie, DMX, and recently pop stars like Kanye, Drake and Kendrick Lamar each reconstructed expectations and trends associated with MCing following their emergence. 25 year old, Howard County, Maryland native, Brandon Perry also known as K.A.A.N. (pronounced Kon) has the talent and qualities to once again write a new chapter in the rap instruction manual. Everyday, innovations in the tech realm bring us one step closer to digital perfection. Throughout centuries philosophers, scientists, physicists and doctors alike have built upon the discoveries of their predecessors, helping mankind evolve and "know-it-all. When your moniker is an acronym for "Knowledge Above All Nonsense" (K.A.A.N.), hip hop is going to hold you accountable. Accountability and credibility are not only evident in K.A.A.N.'s music, but equally obvious in his work ethic and output. In a short time span, as he has been honing and developing his craft in real time, the rapper has organically amassed tens of thousands of followers across numerous social media platforms and consistently generated hundreds of thousands of plays via soundcloud and youtube from his multiple projects. Those statistics are only increasing daily. Some of the biggest names in the industry have extended admiration and support of K.A.A.N.'s movement. Cosigns from Chuck D, features on NPR, and regular performances on both US coasts are among the many stripes the newcomer has earned.

His vinyl debut entitled Uncommon Knowledge on Redefinition Records adds another notch to his belt, in that K.A.A.N. had the honor of working exclusively with legendary music producer K-Def (Real Live, LL Cool J, Ghostface, Diddy) for an entire EP. Connecting the dots to K-Def's opus, 1993's "Chief Rocka" (by Lords of the Underground), a personal favorite of the young rapper, was the icing on the cake while collaborating (he realized the man he was working with produced one of his favorite songs from his youth). K-Def felt equally humbled to once again work with emerging talent, especially when considering K.A.A.N.'s unique, shock-and-awe approach to song structure and lyrical composition, as well as his appreciation for 90's production. While he's far from a simple throwback revivalist, and his catalog to date shows him effortlessly experimenting with various and emerging production styles, K.A.A.N. admits he holds a "soft spot for the 90's and boom bap." Listening to him rhyme may remind an experienced hip hop head of rap's greats and while K.A.A.N. respectfully gives credit where due when speaking of his influential mc's, he attributes just as much of his inspiration to his fandom and study of artists from other genres including Nirvana and Johnny Cash. The old saying goes, "Knowledge is Power", yet for such a popular catchphrase, common sense is still arguably uncommon. Leave it up to K.A.A.N. to take intelligence from rarity to readily available for the masses.
